A Mere Thought

Ever seen the image of a virus in your science book? They look something like this:

First thought on looking: 'Wait, don't they look like some technologically advanced robots evilly programmed to infect us, given that spider-like design? I mean, look at their spine, and the shape of their head, not to mention the legs.'  I bet every eighth-grader must have thought this on opening this chapter in their science books.

Now, my thoughts are particularly mad related to this topic. My imagination and intuition tell me that maybe, aeons ago, some alienatic spaceship would have been planning to attack the earth. As scientists say, biological attack is the most dangerous that can happen to the earth by another intelligent species living on another planet. In other words, the most pitiless WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction). I also saw this on Discovery the other day.

So, all in all, the virus must have been released by some aliens onto the earth when we didn't exist, given their  robotic format. Maybe they have been programmed to activate when they come in contact with a something of living nature.

Ok, now it's getting extremely interesting. And my curiosity adds to the load. If all that I am thinking could be real, existence of aliens, evil aliens, could be proved. Provided that, new ways of artificial intelligence could be discovered. (Not to mention that the content in our textbooks would change.)

The aliens of my imagination are doing a really good job, though. Haven't discovered any ways of vaccination against these viruses, have we? It's possible that disease-causing microorganisms might have existed on the aliens' planet! So, they fashioned a microbe of their own which is I-N-V-I-N-C-I-B-L-E! That means that the conditions on earth and that planet might have been somewhat alike (because of the existence of microorganisms).

Drawing conclusions from a mere thought can be real fun. Our imagination can do so many wonders! But what if all this is real? Well, we just gotta wait and watch =)

Supernatural

Imagine, you're in a cold, dark room. There are a few antique furniture pieces contained in the room, like a grandfather clock or a rocking chair (which is rocking ominously). You are getting that feeling inside you, THAT feeling (if you know what I mean). Out of the corner of your eye, you spot a broken piece of mirror on the desk. But lo! It isn't your face. You quickly turn back to look, and find absolutely nothing there. You glance back at the desk. The mirror has disappeared!...

Realized how far your imagination can go?

So, as you might have thought, I've been thinking of ghosts lately. What I've also discovered is that they are the hot topic in many schools. My research is on, to find whether they really exist or not. Here are some stories (or are they myths?) that may develop equal interest in you!

(I'm not putting the images as it's night time and the images are way too scary. You can search them yourself!)

Everyone must have heard of Bloody Mary. According to the modern belief, if you stand in front of the mirror at night, lights switched off, a candle in your hand, and chant 'Bloody Mary' three times, she will appear in the mirror (means she is behind you) and when you turn back, something or the other may happen to you. Apparently, the people have come to ignore this belief in modern times, and have made a joke on it...

'What will happen if you stand in front of the mirror and chant 'Bloody Mary' three times?
.
.
.
A. Your mom would tell you to shut up and go to bed!'

How bad can it get?

So last but not the least I'm going to cover the myth relating to Bhangarh Fort in Rajasthan. You might know a bit about it, cause HT Brunch covered some details. So, here we go!

Wondrous to know that outside the gates of the fort, there is a board of the Archaeological Survey of India saying that entry after sunset is not permitted. Something fishy, isn't there? Well, the truth is revealed...

Bhangarh, a deserted town in Rajasthan, was established in 1613 by King Madho Singh, son of great Mughal general, Man Singh of Amber. Bhangarh was abandoned soon after being built and supposedly after it was cursed by a magician. In ignorance Ajab Singh, the grandson of Madho Singh, raised the palace to such a height that the shadow reached the forbidden place. Hence the devastation of entire town of Bhangarh happened. Local villagers say that whenever a house is built there its roof collapses. People say that nobody returned who stayed there after dark. Also, there have been traces of black magic in the abandoned market.

Basically, I only think it's a rumour. Nothing's true. The people are always on the run to spread such myths!

The Petrichor and the Pour

A perfect pour of rain added to the burning heat of Gurgaon makes one's afternoon special.

We were sitting in the drawing room when the refreshing petrichor enslaved us to go out into the rain and have some fun! Our faces lit up as the water droplets hit our faces, we were feeling so very excited. Dancing like lunatics, it was one of the best moments of my life. We ran, talked, had fun. etc etc.

That's when we heard a buzzing - like sound. When we looked up to the fresco in front of the house, some black pieces of a material I don't know were flying in the air, which was filled with dust. Apparently, they had come from the fresco. The buzzing sound made it even spookier. Imagine, at 3:30 in the afternoon, the sky was really dark. for a split second, I thought it was the end of the world. LOL. Of course not.

So this afternoon I had compelled my older cousin sister to make a temporary tattoo (made by using a pen) of the Deathly Hallows on my arm.  It was looking great, and I was certainly looking forward to flaunt it to the people. However, next thing I knew, it had become a complete blur. But you can't deny, the effect was REALLY good.

So, today was a really good. At least, I got to escape the heat of north India!

A True Hero

‘Have you heard about Salman Khan’s birthday party? Well, you know what? My dad was invited and we certainly had a blast! Salman shook this hand of mine you see here.’
‘Forget about that, we bought tickets for the IPL Opening Ceremony, and there on the red carpet I met Shahrukh Khan, and he signed me his autograph!’
‘The other day, we went to the extremely costly Posh Diner, and guess what? Ranbir Kapoor was sitting at the table just next to ours! What about you, Veer, you haven’t met anyone yet, have you?’
Veer was the only boy in his Guy Gang who hadn’t seen a celebrity, let alone meet one. It was not that he ever wanted to meet an actor; it’s just that he felt bad when his mates teased him. Not being able to bear his humiliation anymore, he left his chair and strode out of the classroom. He wanted to cry, but what would his friends say? He didn’t want himself to be thought of as a coward.
The one and only person whom he had adulated since his childhood was Karanveer Singh, a general of the Indian Navy. When Veer’s grandfather was in his youth, he had tripped and fallen into the well because of his carelessness. Thanks to Karanveer Singh’s valour, he was saved. Veer loved his grandfather, and so a great urge of meeting that soldier had developed inside him.
On reaching home, he switched on the T.V. as usual. On the news channel, a government award ceremony was being aired. A.R. Rahman, who had won two Academy Awards, was polished with a grand prize of a crore rupees, while the family of a soldier who had died fighting on the border for his beloved homeland was awarded a few lakh rupees. Veer’s already depressed mood had just been thrown out of the frying pan into the fire.
As he pondered about his meeting with General Singh, like every other kid would do, he thought about what he would talk about when he met him, that he was his idol, and that he would surely go into the Indian Navy when he grows up. He determined to do as much effort as it would take to meet a soldier, a true offspring of the country.
As he was exploring his desires, Veer smelled something fishy. He got up to look around the house, and fishy it indeed was, for in the balcony, a fiery flame was developing. When he saw at the ground, the oil from the generator had leaked and a cigarette had fallen nearby. Then he understood. A burning cigarette must have been the cause of all this. Thinking about people taking up bad habits by smoking and causing such disasters increased his willpower even further.
Without a moment’s thought, Veer quickly shouted to the neighbours about the danger. He rushed inside and brought a woolen blanket. The fire had spread to other parts of the house too. He thrust the blanket over the flames and that’s when he remembered the ugly truth. At that instant, everything seemed so tense. The whole world about him started to change. His little sister was sleeping inside the bedroom! She was one of the closest people in his life.
Instantly and cautiously, he made his way to the bedroom, and among the hype of the intense flames, he lifted his sister. She was crying, and was burnt in some places of her body. But Veer didn’t think about that; he wanted her alive, right now. By the time he reached the origin of the flames, they were uncontrollable. He knew he could do nothing now. Amidst all the flame, he made his way out of the house.
He ran for his life, sister in arms, mood intense. He didn’t know for how much time he ran, it seemed forever. Why did it happen only to him, why was he so miserable? He kept running, and he fell, and the world about him seemed to vanish.
When Veer next opened his eyes, a sudden flash of light disturbed them. It took him some time to adapt to this new environment. At last he came to his senses and remembered what had happened to him in the previous few hours. How his house had caught fire, how his sister was sleeping when this happened, how both of them had been scorched in the flames. He sat up and looked around him. He could see his mother, visible in a state of shock. His sister was beside him. His mother caught his eye and a wonderful smile spread across her face. ‘My brave Veer!’, she said. Veer wondered what she could have meant.
After a few days Veer did come to know. The next thing he knew was that he was among the few kids who were being saluted at the Republic Day Parade! When he was invited to the stage, he met Karanveer Singh on his way. The General praised him and said that this is the sign of true bravery. But guess what was going on in Veer’s mind? He was the happiest boy in the world!
Things changed for him, he was a true hero at school. And most important of all, he was one of the most respected kids in India.
